Former Manchester United player Dimitar Berbatov gave a surprise prediction for the Chelsea vs Wolves game and feels the latter will edge the Blues with a 1-0 win.
Chelsea will play on Christmas Eve for the first time since 1995 and will hope to secure a back-to-back win following a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United. The West Londoners are 10th in the Premier League table, while Wolves are 13th, only three points behind the Blues. So a win for Wolves will see them draw level mwith us.
However, Berbatov feels that Christmas might affect Chelsea players as they will be away from their families and might not celebrate it, so he says Wolves might benefit from this and prevail in this game. Speaking to Metro, he further said:
“Man, the players will hate that fixture! I’ll go for a surprise result because Chelsea is travelling on Christmas Eve. They’re away from their families, so I’ll go with Wolves to surprise Chelsea, as nobody wants to be playing on Christmas Eve.”
The 1-0 prediction is not outside the realms of possibility as we have sometimes thrown away easier games while largely negotiating tougher ones with more ease. Hopefully, the Blues will not go on to drop cheap points this time around.
This isn’t the rational prediction honestly despite the players will be away from their families during Christmas. The outcome essentially rests on how we perform in the game not because it will be Christmas Eve. Since Wolves are having a bad season, we ought to be the favourites. However, we haven’t been playing well either, so we’ll need to exercise caution and avoid becoming over-complacent.
We have two games left before the new year, and if we defeat Wolves, we could move up the standings. What Berbatov said is ludicrous because Chelsea will be ready for this match regardless of the day.
