Viktor Gyokeres’ current form outweighs that of Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland
Chelsea are on the lookout for a poacher come transfer window and there cannot be a better candidate than Viktor Gyokeres. The Sporting forward’s form this season triumphs over the EPL greats — Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah in terms of goal involvement.
Erling Haaland catapulted Pep & Co. to glory last season by helping them secure the treble. The Norwegian stood out with his goal-scoring exploits. The former Borussia Dortmund striker hasn’t cooled down on his form. He has managed 24 goal involvements in 22 games.
On the other hand, Liverpool is back in contention for the trophy with Salah at the forefront. The Egyptian has been his club’s trump card ever since he set foot on Anfield. Mo Salah has 22 goal involvements from 23 games this season.
Competing against these two heavyweights seems like a daunting task for any player in Europe but a surprising name has emerged. Viktor Gyokeres’s hot run has him involved in 25 goals from just 20 games in Portugal.
Chelsea should dig deep into their pockets to have him
With great form comes a great price tag! The Swedish international hitting the purple patch means Sporting CP will now milk the opportunity to make the sale profitable. Per Express (h/t SportsMole), the Portuguese club now demand the maximum extent of the striker’s release clause which is set at £86m.
The price is quite justified considering the form that their striker is in. Apart from being a poacher in front of goals, he also happens to be an incredible playmaker. Considering Chelsea’s spending habits and their dire need for a threat out front, Stamford Bridge could be the next home for Gyokeres.
Mauricio Pochettino has handed in a request for a few players and we can’t see why the Sporting CP star should not be in it. Adding Viktor Gyokeres to the ranks will add more firepower to Chelsea’s attack alongside Cole Palmer, Raheem Sterling and Mykhaylo Mudryk.
