A View From The Bridge

“They’re getting better, new club, new players”- Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola makes optimistic Chelsea prediction for the future

Pep Guardiola predicts Chelsea will soon challenge for titles

One of the most decorated managers, Pep Guardiola, has made bold predictions in Chelsea’s title charge and claimed they will be top contenders for the Premier League title sooner or later.

The stakes are high for the Blues’ Sunday matchup against Manchester City after the Mauricio Pochettino team trounced Tottenham Hotspur 4-1. Pochettino and Pep Guardiola are old foes, having met plenty of times in the Premier League when the Argentine was managing Spurs.

This time Pochettino is leading a different side, who are now in their redevelopment phase, and will face Manchester City, who last season won the treble.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says Chelsea will contend for the Premier League title.

There has been a contrasting performance since last season at Chelsea, who have massively upgraded performance-wise, but their impotency in front of goal has prevented them from remaining one of the top clubs this season.

When you see all these statistics, such as XG (expected goals scored) and xA (expected goals against), in each Chelsea game, the Blues are always ranked higher.

They have created plenty of chances but have remained helpless when it comes to scoring goals. But Guardiola has given his verdict on Chelsea’s charge of title, (h/t Football. London) and what he said:

“They’re getting better—new club, new players. Sooner than later, they’ll be a top contender; the quality in all departments is there.”

Guardiola is completely right in that we do have a strong team that is beginning to click. If we can simply stop blowing opportunities, we will soon be competing with the best teams; it will only take time and perseverance. We have to have faith in Pochettino because he has done a wonderful job of pulling the Blues back from the brink.

We are going to continue getting better, even though our performance has already spoken for itself. We play a huge match against City, and if we win, it would be a tremendous victory over a team that has dominated the Premier League.
