“It is harder” – Pochettino highlights difference between Tottenham and Chelsea jobs

published :

Mauricio Pochettino was very excited when Chelsea secured their place in the FA Cup semi-final after beating Leicester City 4-2. The Blues will face Manchester City in the next round at Wembley.

Mauricio Pochettino says Chelsea job is much more difficult compared to Tottenham Hotspur due to young players at the club

Mauricio Pochettino, who is famously known for nurturing young players, has been tasked with helping Chelsea’s youngsters become the future of the club.

The Argentine manager also revealed how his time at West London has been challenging compared to his time at Tottenham Hotspur, as here he has to manage plenty of youngsters.

The Blues have implemented a different approach in their transfer window since the arrival of Todd Boehly, where most of the recruitment has been among youngsters.

It will take time to see Chelsea back challenging big sides, but slowly we will start seeing it soon. Pochettino has nurtured the likes of Dele Ali, Harry Kane, and Heung Min-Son at Spurs.

When he was questioned about whether his current days at Chelsea remind him of his time at Tottenham, (h/t Evening Standard), he said:

“Here, this beginning is tougher, because with this young team, it is harder to find a way to perform. We are putting pressure on the young guys to perform right away. At Spurs, experienced players were there, and then we decided to move them out, but the young guys were there working for a few months—four or five months to understand our way of working.”

Pochettino is absolutely right when he says that Spurs provided him with a combination of young and experienced players, so it didn’t take long for him to put his philosophy into practice. There are many young players at Chelsea who require individual instruction, but under the Argentine boss, there has been a significant uptick in performance over the previous campaign.
