Liverpool join the race for teenage Brazilian wonderkid on Chelsea radar

Liverpool join the race for Corinthians midfielder Gabriel Moscardo on Chelsea radar

Gabriel Moscardo is a talented young Brazilian youngster who is on the radar of many European clubs including Chelsea and Barcelona. The latest name to join the list is Liverpool who are also interested in signing the 18-year-old.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Moscardo is extremely composed in transitions and his maturity is something that is way beyond his age. He has frightening potential but what he actually needs is the right environment to develop.

At 1.85 meters, the teenager is quite tall for a defensive midfielder which is traditionally quite a diminutive position. His physicality helps him be dominating in challenges and he almost always comes out on top.

This is not to say that he is just a physical monster. His ability on the ball is simply outstanding too. He is the best of both worlds. He has a Casemiro in him when needed but at the same time, he also seems to have a Sergio Busquets in him to go with it.

Sergio Busquets just left Barcelona and Jordan Henderson and Fabinho left Liverpool in the summer. It’s understandable why those two clubs are looking for a defensive midfielder but it absolutely baffles me that Chelsea are looking for one.

Chelsea have Enzo Fernandez in their ranks and have just signed Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia for huge sums. Signing Gabriel Moscardo would not make any sense since all the aforementioned players are still very young and developing.

Liverpool join the race for Gabriel Moscardo

According to TEAMtalk (h/t Football. London), Liverpool are now wanting to sign the talented teenager and it would be wise if Chelsea decide to step aside and let the others fight for a player we absolutely do not need.

Is Moscardo a special talent? Yes, he is. Do we need to sign all the special talents in the world? Definitely not. The Blues need to be more wise in their decision-making and only pursue those players who make real sense to them.

Regarding Moscardo, only time will tell us how this pans out. Let’s wait and see if some other clubs pips us to his signature.
