Liverpool identify Florian Wirtz as Mohamed Salah’s replacement amid Chelsea interest
Florian Wirtz has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, and many clubs are already looking to secure his services, including Chelsea. Bayern Leverkusen have already slammed the £80 million price tag on the forward.
According to Daily Star, Liverpool have joined Manchester City, and Bayern Munich in pursuit of Leverkusen prodigy Wirtz, and feel he is an ideal successor to Mohamed Salah. It’s clear that teams compete fiercely to sign proficient players, and Wirtz is a standout player with many elite characteristics.
Jurgen Klopp is a massive admirer of the 20-year-old and sees him as the successor of Mohamed Salah, whose future seems to be coming to an end at Anfield.
The Egyptian has received mammoth offers from Saudi clubs and a move might be possible to the Middle East if they again come up with another mega proposal. If Salah leaves Klopp, expect Wirtz to fill his boots on the right wing.
Chelsea have also been impressed with the German international and wants to add the talented forward to the roster, but with increasing competition, it’s going to be challenging.
Manchester City, though, have Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva on the right wing, but given Silva’s age, the club could push for his signing. Wirtz is just 20 and has developed quickly under Xabi Alonso. The German club has been terrific under the Spanish manager and currently stand first in the Bundesliga.
Although losing out on such a gifted player would be devastating, Chelsea currently boast of two outstanding players in Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke, so it doesn’t seem like we need another right-winger. Given his talent, Wirtz is unquestionably a starter on any team; we don’t need any additional options on the right wing. Palmer has been remarkable, and Madueke should be starting to improve with each game.
