Mauricio Pochettino reveals Cole Palmer reminds him of Angel Di Maria

Mauricio Pochettino draws comparisons between Angel Di Maria and Chelsea star Cole Palmer, as the former Manchester City player reminds Pochettino of the Argentine forward.

Palmer had just a few games to establish his worth, and the Argentine boss now considers the forward to be one of his most noteworthy players.

The 21-year-old has performed well in crucial games and is still demonstrating his vitality. With three goals and two assists in the Blues jersey, the England U21 international will continue with his current scoring spree.

His performance has garnered praise from big stars and he has also been compared to big players such as Juan Mata and Dennis Bergkamp. But Pochettino feels Palmer’s playing style is more identical to that of his compatriot, Angel Di Maria.

The current Benfica star, who played a key role in helping his nation win the FIFA 2022 World Cup, has never played for the Blues. But the former Southampton manager feels Palmer and Di Maria are similar in their playing styles, (h/t Metro) as he revealed:

‘’Juan Mata? No, he is more Di Maria! You know the body and the way he moves. I think it is not fair to say it surprises me just because now he is performing and he didn’t play too much in City.”

Pochettino has experience managing Di Maria at Paris Saint-Germain, so he is aware that the two may play similarly and score goals in crucial matches. Palmer has already scored important goals against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. The Argentinean star is also well-known for his big-match scoring in the World Cup final against France and the Copa America final in 2021 against Brazil.
