Journo says Chelsea have shown ‘far more interest’ in South American starlet than Liverpool

Journalist Neil Jones confirms Liverpool are unlikely to pursue Chelsea target Gabriel Moscardo

Neil Jones reveals Liverpool could avoid signing Gabriel Moscardo as they are looking for an experienced midfielder, handing Chelsea an advantage.

Chelsea are heavily interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder, and a January move could be possible. For Arsenal, they will need to sell some players to balance their Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations.

This will be another leverage for the Blues to sign as soon as possible. The West Londoners have shown great intention towards signing Brazilian players.

Liverpool unlikely to pursue Chelsea target Gabriel Moscardo.

They previously approached Corinthians for Moscardo, but the Brazilian club turned down their €20 million (£17.5 million) proposal, but they continue to remain interested in signing him and could return with an upgrade price.

Now the Blues have less competition to sign Moscardo after Liverpool are unlikely to compete for the 18-year-old midfielder, (h/t Football. London), as revealed by Jones on CaughtOffside:

“Another young Brazilian linked with a move to Merseyside is Gabriel Moscardo of Corinthians, although my information is that both Chelsea and Arsenal have shown far more interest in the 18-year-old than Liverpool have. Liverpool, generally, do not sign first-team players directly from South America.”

“Their tendency in the past has been to wait and see how a talent develops once it has moved to Europe—think of Diaz, Firmino, Fabinho, Nunez, Mac Allister, and Alisson as six great examples—before making their move when the player reaches their early-mid 20s.”

Chelsea are set to make a new offer for Gabriel Moscardo.

Liverpool wants to be patient with their acquisition and watch how Moscardo develops into a midfield player, but Chelsea are very keen on signing him so we can see them return to the Brazilian club for another enhanced offer. Chelsea also face less competition for his acquisition at this point. This offers us an incentive to sign him, as Arsenal must sell players to balance their free agency budget and make room for a new addition.

In Brazil, Moscardo is a highly sought-after defensive midfield player, and now is the ideal moment to steal him away from rival teams. Let’s wait and see what happens. We might believe that Chelsea will make another bid in January.
