Four Chelsea stars including Enzo Fernandez make Carabao Cup Team of the Round

Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, Badiashile and Raheem Sterling make Carabao Cup Team of the Round

Four Chelsea players have been named in the Carabao Cup Team of the Round, underlining the Blues’ excellent performance against Blackburn.

As revealed by the Cabarao Cup account on X, midfielder Enzo Fernandez, defender Benoit Badiashile, winger Raheem Sterling and forward Cole Palmer were all selected in the XI based on @WhoScored ratings.

Enzo Fernandez was brilliant against Blackburn, creating 7 chances and making 6 tackles in a dominant display. Benoit Badiashile also impressed on his return from injury, scoring and helping keep a clean sheet with his distribution and defensive work.

Raheem Sterling netted Chelsea’s second goal to round off a strong all-round performance, while Cole Palmer provided the assist for that goal to continue his great form.

The quartet’s recognition validates Chelsea’s squad depth and the talent new manager Mauricio Pochettino has at his disposal. Even though the Blues have been struggling in the Premier League, they have had consistent performances in the Carabao Cup.

With Chelsea still competing on three fronts, Pochettino will hope these stars can maintain their form to aid a cup run. The 51-year-old Argentine will certainly want his stars to deliver in the quarter-final clash against Newcastle on the 20th of December.

Their standout performances against Blackburn proved Chelsea have the quality to better recent inconsistent results when firing on all cylinders.

Chelsea have a shot at silverware in the Cabarao Cup

If Chelsea’s players can produce at the levels that earned selection in the best XI, an improved and fruitful season could still be on the cards. Chelsea are currently at 11th place in the Premier League rankings having won just three out of their 10 matches.

It had seemed the young boys in blue had found their groove when they registered a back-to-back win against Fulham and Burnley. But it was soon halted by a draw with Arsenal and they lost to Brentford in their latest Premier League outing.

Amid all these, the Carabao Cup provides an opportunity for the Blues to have a shot at silverware this season after a trying start to Pochetino’s tenure.
