Former manager of Mykhaylo Mudryk, Carlo Nicolini, has suggested the forward leave Chelsea to find regular game time and continue his development.
The 23-year-old has been in the limelight since his £88 million move to Stamford Bridge. It’s evident the fans will demand a good performance from you when you have been acquired for such a high fee.
Mudryk joined the Blues last winter window and is starting to make gradual progress, having scored two goals for the Blues in 28 appearances. His performance has gotten a lot better compared to last season under Mauricio Pochettino.
Chelsea’s performance has risen significantly under Pochettino’s direction, and many players—Mudryk included—have also performed admirably.
His former Shakhtar Donetsk coach, nevertheless, believes he needs to think about leaving Chelsea to try to succeed somewhere where he will be shown the right path to maturity. As he further explained, (h/t Express) he told Italian outlet TV Play:
“Mudryk needed to take one more step there, and then the war happened. He went to Chelsea, which, however, is not a team in these contexts, even though the individual struggles.”
“On the national team, you can see the real Mudryk; he can do even more. He must find the right environment and a coach who gives him confidence. He has everything to rock; I hope he can show it because he is really strong.”
This is really a crass remark, considering how much Mudryk has transformed under Pochettino and will continue to develop with the Argentine coach. With Christopher Nkunku and Raheem Sterling at Chelsea, it stands to reason that veteran players will be utilised in key matches. However, Mudryk will undoubtedly be chosen by them if his performances begin to demonstrate that he is superior to more experienced players.
When the Ukrainian forward starts to shine, Nicolini will come to regret his decision to let him go. We have a player with the potential to be a world-class player; all he needs is trust and backing from the supporters.
