A View From The Bridge

Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea failed in a bid to land Brazilian international last November

Fabrizio Romano reveals that Chelsea unsuccessfully tried to sign Endrick last November

Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea were among the clubs interested in signing Brazilian wunderkind Endrick before Real Madrid beat them to the punch. Romano further disclosed that the Blues also invited the player’s family to Stamford Bridge to convince the striker to join the West Londoners.

Endrick’s prominence has been smooth, as the centre-forward attracted interest from several clubs but ended up joining Real Madrid last summer. The Brazilians will join them next summer. He recently received a first senior call up from Brazil, testament to the 17-year-old’s potential. He came off the bench against Colombia last week as Brazil succumbed to a 2-1 loss.

Chelsea have already invested in plenty of young players, and Endrick could have been another impressive signing for the club, but the youngster’s mind was already set on a move to the Spanish club.

The Blues shouldn’t regret not signing him given they have Deivid Washington, another Brazilian sensation who will have plenty of chances to show his talent when he gets the opportunity. A solid player with experience to boot, he could have been a gamechanging addition to us for years to come.

Fabrizio Romano gave insight into how Chelsea did their best to land the Brazilian forward, who recently made his debut for his senior national team. Romano took to his YouTube channel and said:

“Chelsea, one year ago in November, also tried to sign Endrick. He is a player that they are monitoring with their staff and scouting department. They tried to approach the player side to convince his family and invited them. But for Endrick, the choice was clear: Real Madrid.”

Romano says Chelsea tried to sign Endrick last November.

We have plenty of brilliant young Brazilians such as Angelo Gabriel, Andrey Santos, and Washington, so we have no cause to lament not being able to sign him. But Endrick has a different kind of talent, and he can use those attributes to rise to the top of the list of football strikers.

Chelsea in the past were close to landing Neymar before Barcelona made their way and swooped in. Unfortunately, history repeated it self with Endrick, the Real Madrid being the only difference.

The Premier League does not allow players under the age of 18, so even if we had signed him, he would have joined us the next year. Right now, we’re looking for a seasoned striker who can score goals in every match. Endrick is too young; considering the intensity of the league, it would have taken him a lot of seasons to get used to it.
