Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino labels Manchester City as the best team in the world
Mauricio Pochettino believes Manchester City are the best team in the world following a 4-4 draw with Chelsea. Pochettino’s side rallied back to secure a draw with City in an enthralling game that could have a huge say in where the title ultimately ends up.
Chelsea and City went face-to-face and showed no sign of capitulation, it was a goal-fest game between both sides. However, the Blues performance against City has set the precedent that the club is heading in the right direction under Pochettino.
There was a lot to examine in the game, including how they responded to each of City’s goals and came from behind three times. There was a noticeable improvement between Chelsea’s performance from the previous season and the current one.
Chelse certainly laid a marker with this performance, and fans will be excited about what the club is building. Each player deserves praise for their performance against City and the Argentine manager also called Pep Guardiola’s side the best in the world, as he told Chelsea’s website:
‘’I am very proud and so happy. The players deserve the praise because their performance this evening was amazing. We faced a team that, for me, is the best team in the world. There were too many circumstances that happened during the game that made me very proud, because the way that we managed the game was really good.”
It is no secret that Man City have strength in depth in abundance. Matching them is no mean feat but Chelsea gave Pep Guardiola and Co a real run for their money. It certainly gives us a clearly optimistic feel of what to expect from the Blues in the years to come.
Pochettino is right; City are arguably the best club team in football right now and a force to be reckoned with. However, it took Guardiola years to build a quality team for City, as evidenced by the way the team developed into an overwhelming force. Owners and supporters backed him in his efforts to turn this team into a dominant force in Europe, and they are now reaping the rewards of their patience.
