Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino weighs in on facing Tottenham without Harry Kane
Mauricio Pochettino said it will be very odd to not see Harry Kane at Tottenham Hotspur when Chelsea travel to the N-17 to face Spurs on Monday. The Argentine manager and Kane have worked together at Spurs since Pochettino helped the 30-year-old become one of the best strikers in Europe.
Kane joined Bayern Munich last summer despite interest from several European clubs, including Chelsea, but the German side eventually acquired the services of the England international. Despite his exit from Spurs, the North Londoners have remained a potent side in attack, with Heung Min Son leading their offensive line scoring eight goals in 10 matches this season.
Under Ange Postecoglou, who has transformed the team without their most dependable scorer, Tottenham are also leading the standings. Kane, meanwhile, has made an immediate impact at Bayern and continues to strive towards trophies with a different team following his trophyless time at Spurs.
Certainly, it will be weird for the former Southampton manager to not see his ex-player, given how Pochettino helped Kane become an undisputed centre-forward of his era, (h/t Football.London), Speaking to the media, he further said:
“It’s going to be weird seeing many years, and Harry Kane is not going to be there. He’s a big part of the history of Tottenham, and it will be weird not to see him.”
has always had an appreciation for his former fellow player, and he deserves a lot of credit for helping Kane establish himself as the premier striker of this generation. It’s unfortunate that despite their many outstanding years at Spurs, the two were unable to win a trophy together. However, times have changed, and they are currently at separate clubs with different goals.
