According to Express, Armando Broja is determined to remain at Chelsea despite the club’s potential signing of a new striker. The Albanian has also garnered interest from other Premier League sides. West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur signed him last summer, while Fulham are considering a move for the 22-year-old in January.
However, it is understood the Blues are prepared to reject an approach from the Cottagers in January, despite being interested in bringing another striker into the winter transfer window. Real Madrid also showed interest in 2022, but a deal never transpired.
Broja has returned to playing football after rupturing his ACL last season, which sidelined him for an entire season. The 22-year-old has appeared in five games and scored a goal so far.
Nicolas Jackson and Broja are currently the only centre-forward options this season, and the Blues are pondering signing a striker with a more prolific goal output.
If the Blues manage to land the Nigerian star, Broja could be pushed down in the selection, which could hamper his growth at the club, and this could lead to a move.
The 22-year-old, nevertheless, wants to continue playing at Chelsea and prove his mettle. The Chelsea staff has tremendous affection for him as well, but there will be difficult choices to be made about his future.
Since Christopher Nkunku is getting close to returning, it would only make sense for Broja to make a switch if we sign a striker in January or the summer transfer window, when his playing time will decrease even more. Other teams are eager to sign him because they see his potential. Chelsea will, however, be pleased to keep him if Mauricio Pochettino can give him adequate playing time.
We don’t know if we will recruit a striker in January, and nothing is guaranteed at this time. Given his fitness and ability to pose a threat in front of goal, Broja may now start games. Additionally, his performance can persuade against signing a striker in the winter window.
