Marc Cucurella reveals he was left frustrated with Chelsea 2-2 draw against Arsenal
Marc Cucurella was discontent with the result following Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal. The Spanish left-back was in the starting lineup and was tasked with minimising Bukayo Saka’s threat from the right wing.
Cucurella was impressive throughout the game, nullifying Saka completely, and didn’t give the England international a chance to go past him.
It was one of his best performances since his move to Chelsea. The left-back has often laboured to put up a convincing performance but his display against Arsenal could be a turning point for the left-back.
The Blues put in an impressive performance against a side who were in excellent form, but a poor mistake by Robert Sanchez saw the Gunners come from behind to level the score at 2-2.
This frustrated the former Brighton & Hove Albion, who displayed an exceptional performance and sent a message about why he should now start every game. Speaking during the post-game press conference, (Evening Standard), Cucurella said the team was very angry with the result and further said:
“The feeling is one of anger, really. I know we drew the game but it feels like a loss because we were in control. We played very well; everybody put in a good performance, but we need to improve in controlling the game because we should have seen the result out and gotten the win.”
We can understand his frustration because this was a win we deserved, and had we won this game, it would have been a statement victory for us. We should have won by a big margin if Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson hadn’t fluffed their chances. Cucurella in general was amazing and gave Mauricio Pochettino a reason why he should now start every game. He completely nullified Saka and didn’t give him enough time on the ball.
