Report: Why Pep Guardiola allowed Manchester City to sell Cole Palmer to Chelsea

Oscar Bobb played key role in pushing Cole Palmer’s move to Chelsea

According to Daily Star, Chelsea fans will be thanking Oscar Bobb, whose emergence into the Manchester City first team pushed Cole Palmer to leave City last summer. The midfielder is set to ink a new long-term contract after impressing Pep Guardiola and will see an increase in his wages.

The former Barcelona manager feels Bobb is an upgrade on Palmer, which convinced Guardiola to offload Palmer. City are now set to keep the 20-year-old and are not planning to loan him in January.

Oscar Bobb was key to letting Pep Guardiola allow Cole Palmer to leave Man City.

The 20-year-old also received his first call-up to the Norwegian squad and will have a big impact to make, given Guardiola has trusted his talent. Palmer’s decision to join our team has definitely paid off, as he has been influential since the first game. Under Guardiola, he was never a regular starter, so by choosing us, he made the right move.

Here, he will play a lot of games, and Mauricio Pochettino will help the kid progress further. Given that the Spanish manager already had players like Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva on the right, had he stayed at City, he would have functioned as the third backup.

His acquisition has given us a creative player who can tick all the boxes and score goals. Once Christopher Nkunku returns, we will have the best creative players feeding the striker.

But Bobb is certainly not the only reason why Cole Palmer left City; he knew he would barely get game time, and moving away was the best decision he could make regarding his career. At Chelsea, he has already become an important individual and will go on to make a massive impact in the future.

He was, however, sent back to Chelsea by England U21 team manager Lee Carsley after suffering a quad injury. The injury is hopefully not significant, and we hope he will be available for the Arsenal match on October 21.
