A View From The Bridge

“I just think that this is going to happen”- Pundit offers encouraging words for Chelsea fans in Victor Osimhen pursuit

Pundit Janusz Michallik believes Chelsea will indeed pursue Napoli star Victor Osimhen in January transfer window

ESPN pundit Janusz Michallik believes Chelsea will make a “last-ditch effort” to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen in January, offering encouraging words to Blues fans. The Nigerian has emerged as a top target for Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino as he seeks solutions to his side’s issues in attack.

Neither Christopher Nkunku nor Nicolas Jackson have impressed since arriving under Todd Boehly’s new regime at Stamford Bridge. The promising Armando Broja has also gotten sidelined due to recurring injuries.

Speaking on ESPN FC (h/tfootball.london), Michallik is convinced Chelsea will push hard to bring 24-year-old Osimhen to West London this winter.

“I just think that this is going to happen, last-ditch effort from Chelsea because, I mean, who else are they going to get?”

The former USMNT star sees Osimhen as the obvious choice to solve Chelsea’s striker struggles despite an inevitably huge price tag. With 31 goals in 39 matches for Napoli last season, Osimhen has developed into one of Europe’s most lethal marksmen at Napoli.

His prolific form has caught the eye of Mauricio Pochettino, who wants more of a goal threat leading his attack. Chelsea shattered their transfer record to sign Moises Caicedo for £115m in August. While finances are tight, Michallik believes the Blues will do whatever it takes to beat the competition and secure Osimhen.

His bullish prediction will be music to the ears of Chelsea supporters desperate for a top-class number nine. Boehly may need to sanction player sales to help balance the expense of capturing the free-scoring Nigerian.

But Michallik is convinced the club’s hierarchy will back Pochettino with the resources required to get his top attacking target over the line. After a hit-and-miss summer window, the pundit clearly believes Chelsea will make a major statement by landing one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers.
