Mauricio Pochettino feels Conor Gallagher and Chelsea will arrive at new deal
Mauricio Pochettino believes Conor Gallagher will extend his contract at Chelsea after the midfielder has seemingly become an indispensable player under the Argentine manager.
Gallagher’s contract expires in 2025, (Transfermarkt) and he is likely to extend his contract after the midfielder was hesitant about leaving the club last summer. Now Pochettino seems to have faith in him by starting him in every game.
Chelsea were open to selling the England international after verbally agreeing with Everton, while West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur also showed interest.
However, the midfielder wanted to prove his worth under the former Paris Saint-Germain manager and has since been a regular starter, appearing in all nine games.
He has formed a solid partnership with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo in the midfield and will hopefully remain Pochettino’s first pick. The trio had clicked well together and added a new spark to the Blues’ midfield.
The Argentine manager has finally addressed Gallagher’s contract situation at Chelsea, (h/t Evening Standard), and said:
“It is like a marriage between the player and club, both sides need to feel good and that is why this moment you can arrive at a new deal. Even if you want to extend the contract, you stop and speak. Of course, he is a player who is doing fantastic. We are so happy with how he is doing.”
As Gallagher was reluctant to leave the club during the summer transfer window, hopefully, he will sign a new contract. Under the Argentine manager, the midfielder has also made considerable strides and is currently rated as one of the highest-quality players in the team, adding a lot of zest to the midfield. Gallagher has put in a lot of effort to prove that he merits a second opportunity to lead the team, and it looks like he may be our untransferable player.
