Axel Disasi and Malo Gusto have been called up to the national teams due to injuries
According to the Washington Post, Chelsea duo Malo Gusto and Axel Disasi have been called up to the France national team for the October international games against the Netherlands and Scotland. Gusto is set to replace Dayot Upamecano, while Disasi has been drafted in place of Jules Kounde.
This is Gusto’s first call to play for the senior side. He has represented his nation in various youth tournaments. Axel Disasi was part of the France squad for the 2022 World Cup and has earned four caps for the French side.
Both will have a chance to make a name for themselves, establish their national presence, and give Didier Deschamps a reason to consider them for Euro 2024.
Disasi, signed to replace the injured Wesely Fofana, has appeared in all Premier League games so far. Gusto has been used in place of the injured Reece James.
Meanwhile, the former AS Monaco centre-back, Disasi has become an important player at the back, forming a rock-solid partnership with Thiago Silva and Levi Colwill.
Gusto’s call-up for France makes sense, given his excellent performance for Chelsea when he filled in for James. This opportunity will also give him the impetus he needs to prepare for the Arsenal match after missing the last two Chelsea games.
