“I know Broja”- Inter Milan chief responds to links with 22-year-old Chelsea star

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio reveals Inter Milan had no chance of signing Chelsea star Armando Broja

Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio has revealed that they are happy with their own strikers roster after Chelsea forward Armando Broja was linked with a move to the Giuseppe Meazza in January.

The Albanian, who recently returned from a knee injury, was courted by AC Milan and Inter. But the Nerazzurri sporting director has now dismissed the links. West Ham United were also keen on signing Broja on loan, but Chelsea fended off any interest as the youngster is part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

Since returning from a long-term injury, the 22-year-old has participated in three games and has a goal to his name. he scored in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham. Hopefully, he continues to impress and will make a telling difference this season.

The youngster has now been called up for national team games in October, which will help him find his rhythm. But reports in Italy that suggested Inter weighing a January move for Broja have been rubbed off by their sporting director, (h/t Evening Standard), as he said:

“No, I’m sorry, but that is not true, because we are happy with the strikers we have. I know Broja, and I know that he is recovering from a serious injury and has also scored a goal. I hope for him that, starting Thursday, he will be important for the national team. But at Inter, there is no chance.”

Inter Milan denies interest in Armando Broja.

It won’t be the best decision to see Chelsea sell Armando Broja permanently, given how high Pochettino thinks of the striker. He is part of his plans for this season and is bound to get them given the lack of strikers on our roster.

Broja proved during his loan stint at Southampton that he is capable of leading the line for a top flight side. While we are yet to see the same level of performances in a Blue jersey, the talent in his veins is unquestionable.

Broja has just recovered from a serious injury, so it makes sense if it takes him a season to reclaim his form. He is a terrific goal scorer and will only get better under Pochettino, but we must be patient with his growth. Regardless of whether Inter will change their mind or not, Chelsea should retain their young striker.
