Chelsea star says the team is ‘very disappointed’ with his team’s result against Arsenal

Mauricio Pochettino does not appear to be under immediate risk at Chelsea.

Cole Palmer is discontent with the result after Arsenal fought back to secure a 2-2 draw against Chelsea

Cole Palmer gave his verdict on Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal and felt disappointed with the score after the Gunners clawed back to secure a point late in the second half.

This was Chelsea’s best performance we have witnessed in a long time, and credit goes to Mauricio Pochettino, who totally neutralised Mikel Arteta’s strategy. Unfortunately, individual errors outdid much of the good work on the night.

Palmer gave the Blues the lead from the spot in the 15th minute before Mykhaylo Mudryk’s looping cross fell past David Raya in the 48th minute. We should have won this game by four goals after the 21-year-old missed a glorious chance and Nicolas Jackson also fluffed his opportunities.

Cole Palmer says he was disappointed that Chelsea were held to a 2-2 draw against Arsenal.

Poor passing by Robert Sanchez allowed Declan Rice to quickly send the ball into the net in the 77th minute as Sanchez stood in no man’s land. Substitute Leandro Trossard then made it 2-2 from Bukayo Saka’s pass. Eddie Nketiah then went close but thankfully we saw his shot bounce wide.

We witnessed a Chelsea team that was genuinely motivated to prove their mettle and triumph over a top team that was considered a title contender. There is no need to be disappointed because we gifted them the match’s first goal, which gave them impetus. (h/t BBC) Palmer then gave his thoughts about the match in the post-game conference and said:

“We’re obviously very disappointed not to get the three points, but Arsenal are a very good side and one of the best teams in the league. We went toe-to-toe with them.”

The outcome is undoubtedly unpleasant, but we gave a tremendous effort; we were the superior team and played with freedom and confidence. Arteta’s strategy was completely soothed by Pochettino’s moves and left the Gunners clueless on how to respond. Everybody gave it their best effort, and if Palmer and Jackson hadn’t missed their opportunities, we might have had the game in the bang before Sanchez lost his head.

Palmer was our finest player because of his ability to control the ball and play possession-based football while remaining so cool under pressure. But after the manner in which we handled Arsenal, we appear to be returning to our optimum.
