Chelsea star Axel Disasi has pulled out of France squad with quad injury
According to a report by Football.London, Chelsea center-back Axel Disasi has been forced to withdraw from the France squad for the upcoming international matches against the Netherlands and Scotland in the October break due to a quad injury.
The former AS Monaco center-back had previously featured in four matches for France and was part of their 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, which, as you might remember, ended in a heartbreaking 4-2 penalty shootout loss for Les Blues.
Disasi, who arrived at Chelsea as a replacement for the injured Wesley Fofana, has been a consistent presence on the pitch, playing alongside Thiago Silva and Levi Colwill in every game for the Blues.
It has come to our attention that the 25-year-old has been withdrawn from the squad as a precaution. The decision was made to avoid worsening his injury, and we are hopeful that he will recover in time for the upcoming Arsenal game.
Interestingly, Disasi has a history of staying injury-free. He only missed two games during his time at Monaco. Currently, Chelsea are grappling with the unfortunate situation of having nine players injured.
The silver lining for Chelsea is that Disasi’s injury did not occur during a Premier League game. This provides the club with a crucial 11-day window to assess the injury’s severity and determine if he can recover in time for their next match.
In other news, Malo Gusto, another Chelsea star, has received a call-up for France’s upcoming matches. He was suspended during the Nottingham Forest game but will now have a chance to make his senior debut for the national team.
Meanwhile, Chelsea fans will anxiously await Axel Disasi‘s recovery, as his absence would leave the team with no natural center-backs, given Trevoh Chalobah’s injury. In such a scenario, Marc Cucurella might step in, as the Spanish fullback has previously demonstrated his versatility by operating as a center-back.
