A View From The Bridge

Report: Chelsea believe 22-year-old star can win Ballon d’Or in the future

Chelsea scouts feel they have a potential Ballon d’Or winner in Mykhaylo Mudryk

As per Football.London, Chelsea scouts believe that winger Mykhaylo Mudryk has the potential to win the Ballon d’Or in the future. This will be music to fans’ ears as they wait for the first player in Blue to win the esteemed award.

It is understood that when Chelsea were scouting Mudryk during his time at Shakhtar Donetsk, he was touted to be one of the best young players in the world. The youngster’s ability is clear despite his slow start to life at Stamford Bridge.

However, his move for the Ukrainian club hasn’t been a solid success so far, as Mudryk struggled to make an impression at Chelsea. But in the last few games, he has shown signs of massive improvement and also broke his scoring duck for Chelsea.

He was on the scoresheet in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham before the international break and it will hopefully aid his confidence. Mudryk’s quickness is a key weapon he can make better use of with additional experience.

His burst of speed leaves defenders for dead, giving him a head start in crucial moments. However, several other facets need improvement and it seems like Mauricio Pochettino is helping the 22-year-old find his groove.

The most coveted football award, which no Chelsea star has ever won, is something Blues supporters can only hope to see Mudryk lift. But he still has a long way to go and much to prove before he reaches that pedestal.

For a player who still has a lot to discover in his playing career, it could be premature to make predictions, but as he makes progress in crucial areas like finishing and passing in the final third, he will certainly see his standing rise. In Chelsea’s history, only two players have come close to winning the Ballon d’Or: Frank Lampard, who finished second in 2005 behind the incomparable Ronaldinho, and Didier Drogba, who ended fourth in 2007.

It will be something big in the club’s history if Mudryk manages to secure the Ballon d’Or. However, we should not be putting undue pressure on him and should instead let him enjoy the game and develop into the star he can be.
