Chelsea are interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Gavi
There are not many teenagers around the world who can boast of having 25 caps for their nation, especially when that nation is Spain. One player though who has managed to do just that is Pablo Gavi, a La Masia graduate playing for Barcelona, a player Chelsea are interested in.
Gavi broke through at such a young age for the Spanish club and his national team that it already feels like he has been around for quite a while. The 19-year-old central midfielder is such an enormous talent and was also the Golden Boy winner last year.
At the tender age of 19, he has already featured a whopping 108 times for Barcelona. That is just staggering especially when you consider that they have the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Ilkay Gundogan in midfield.
Other than Barcelona fans, there is a sense of resentment towards Pablo Gavi from the general footballing world which is totally unwarranted. Success at such a young age is not everyone’s cup of tea and it looks like not many people are able to accept it.
According to Football. London, Chelsea are interested in making a move for talented teenage Barcelona prodigy Gavi but would have to fork out over £ 90 million to get into the conversation.
Gavi is a tenacious midfielder who gives his everything on the field whenever he plays. Never one to shy away from a tackle, his over-eagerness has often gotten him in trouble with the referees as he has gotten a yellow card 34 times for far for Barcelona.
Gavi is a coach’s dream. He is a pressing monster who is always in the face of the opponent and despite his slender structure, he does not think twice before going into an aerial challenge with a taller defender. That’s the kind of mentality he comes with.
It comes as no surprise that the Blues are being linked with him as he would be a perfect fit for Mauricio Pochettino’s system. Sadly though, there seems to be no chance of Barcelona selling him despite their precarious financial situation.

Usually, when a player is 19, we tend to say he is one for the future. Gavi has already been the present of Barcelona. He is likely to be their future too and the Blues will be wiser looking elsewhere.
