Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has returned to full training

According to the Chelsea official website, the Blues have been handed great news as Carney Chukwuemeka has returned to full training after suffering a knee injury in starting of the season.

The 19-year-old picked up a knee injury in the game against West Ham United and had to undergo surgery, but has returned to group training sooner than we expected. This is the best news for Chelsea fans, as Chukwuemeka has shown signs of progress this season under Mauricio Pochettino.

Despite barely making the starting line-up last season, the U21 England international started two games in a row this campaign and also registered a goal in a 3-1 defeat to the Hammers.

Despite having enough options in midfield, the 19-year-old return adds more depth, and Chukwuemeka could be in the starting XI given he has operated on the left wing. Certainly, he could be introduced as a substitute and won’t be directly thrown into the starting XI, given that he will need time to build his momentum once again.

Romeo Lavia is another midfielder who is injured, and there will be competition in midfield once all the midfielders are fit to feature. It will also allow the Argentine manager to rotate our midfield with different sets of players to find the best starting midfield.

Chukwuemeka has the ability to align with any midfielder in our team and develop strong rapport and teamwork. We can only hope that his return will be the icing on the cake, given how much his absence was felt.

The return of Chukwuemeka will be a major relief since he is the sort of midfielder who will undoubtedly improve the quality of our team, and it is also now clear that he has a penchant for scoring goals. But it’s unclear at this point which game will have him available.
