A View From The Bridge

Chelsea and 24-year-old Bayern target expect to part ways in January, says Fabrizio Romano

Trevoh Chalobah expected to leave Chelsea in January in search of regular game-time

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Trevoh Chalobah are in talks to part ways as the centre-back wants to play regularly and Bayern Munich remain interested.

Chelsea were open to selling the unwanted defender and accepted a Nottingham Forest bid in the last summer window, but the 23-year-old turned down the offer.

Meanwhile, the Bayern Munich loan offer later collapsed, but the German club is in talks with the Blues and could send another offer in the upcoming transfer window.

Other clubs also have Chalobah in their sights, but Bayern remain the favourite to land him since the centre-back is also open to joining the German club.

Chalobah is way down in Chelsea’s pecking order, and remaining here will only affect his career, given that Mauricio Pochettino may prefer other centre-backs over him.

If he were their first-choice defender, then the Blues wouldn’t have gone for Axel Disasi when Wesely Fofana suffered an injury before the start of the new season.

At Bayern, he will be reunited with Thomas Tuchel, who can help the player find his form once again. The German club haven’t found a replacement for Benjamin Pavard, but Chalobah is a decent backup.

Bayern Munich will come again for defender Trevoh Chalobah in January.

Chalobah is a bright player with the ability to play as a fullback. However, he will play in a competition that is less demanding and intense than the Premier League. He shouldn’t have much trouble adjusting there, and getting to play in the Champions League will be a huge perk.

Here at Chelsea, he isn’t needed, and we are better off without him. Parting ways is the best decision for both parties. How much Chelsea wants for his exit isn’t disclosed, but we will expect the Blues to gain as much profit. He is 23 and can add great quality to the other side. Let’s see how many clubs show interest in him in the winter window.
