Fabrizio Romano has shut down the rumours of Chelsea loaning their star player, Mykhaylo Mudryk, last summer and claimed the Blues have full faith in the 22-year-old. Since arriving at Chelsea, the Ukrainian forward has had a tough time settling into the new league after the club’s dismal run last season.
It is obvious that a player with a high price tag will always be in the headlines for his performances. Chelsea spent £88.5 million to acquire a young player who required time to mature at his home country club before moving on to a major Premier League team.
However, it appeared the Blues didn’t want to miss on the chance to sign Mudryk and acted quickly, hijacking Arsenal’s target last January.
His doubtful displays started spreading rumours that Blues could loan the forward to help him regain his form, but transfer expert Romano has dismissed them and told on his Daily Briefing on Caught Offside:
‘‘It was never the case that Chelsea would let the player leave in the summer or at any other moment. They trusted Mudryk then; they still trust him now, and Chelsea thinks that we are still not saying the best of him. It will take time, of course, but the club believes he is going to be a big star in the future.’’
Mudryk needed trust and assurance from us, and Mauricio Pochettino has provided him with that. When we signed him, he wasn’t ready to play at the highest level, where the intensity of matches is demanding, and Mudryk was developing when we acquired him. It was obvious that he wouldn’t burst onto the scene right away. A player of his calibre needed time and patience to show his credentials.
He has been trusted, and he has now delivered on the pitch with two goals in Premier League. He will continue to awe us with his performances because he is now starting to show his worth, and we have a future talent with us.
