Barcelona hold a key advantage in their pursuit of Chelsea target Gabriel Moscardo

Barcelona are currently leading the race to sign Corinthians midfielder Gabriel Moscardo amid interest from Chelsea, as the Blues also face a big dilemma due to Adnrey Santos’ scenario at Nottingham Forest.

According to Sport, (h/t Express), Andrey Santos’ situation at Nottingham Forest could help the Spanish club swoop in for the Corinthians midfielder. This is bad news for the Blues who are also very keen on 18-year-oold’ services.

Santos, who has joined Forest on loan in order to get game time and maintain his development, has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League, which could hinder Chelsea’s pursuit of Moscardo.

The 18-year-old agent also represents Santos, who holds a strong partnership with Barcelona sporting director Deco. It is understood that Moscardo could snub Chelsea for Barcelona after watching the Blues’ treatment of Santos.

The 19-year-old only made his full appearances in a 1-0 Carabao Cup defeat against Burnley back in August, and the Blues are assessing his situation at Forest. E If he fails to get reasonable game time, then the West Londoners could exercise a break clause in the deal, which could see them recall the youngster in January.

However, how does it relate to Santos’s situation? If we sign Gabriel Moscardo, he should be more worried about whether Barcelona will be able to sign him given their financial struggles. We sent Santos to Chelsea on loan because he still needs time to develop. Had he remained at Stamford Bridge, he’d have barely received any game time given that we already have a wealth of midfielders.

At Nottingham, he will hopefully make the most of his chance. The season has just started, and hopefully Santos will be handed more trust once he acquaints himself with the club’s identity and style.

Moscardo is highly rated, and his performance has attracted interest from many European clubs, but do we need another defensive midfielder? Knowing we boast Moises Caicedo. Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu, there are enough options available at the Bridge.
