Chelsea star Thiago Silva takes dig at EA FC 24 for rating downgrade
In a recent interview with the official Premier League YouTube channel, Chelsea’s star defender Thiago Silva got to know his new in-game stats of EA FC 24 (previously EA Sports FIFA) and he was not happy about it.
Silva had an overall player rating of 86 in the previous instalment of the popular game. Currently, his rating has dropped to 84. He was not pleased with this.
The 38-year-old Brazilian joked that the makers were watching football games with their eyes closed.
As shown in the interview video, Silva’s primary stats either remained the same or increased, with physicality being the only exception. It went down from 76 to 74. This was no surprise to Silva as he more or less accurately predicted everything.
However, he was left disappointed when the interviewer informed him that his overall stats had gone down. Silva had predicted that his overall would have remained the same as the previous instalment.
“They are not watching any games! They are watching games like this.” – said Silva while covering his eyes implying that the makers might not be watching football matches.
Chelsea’s poor performance last season potentially led to a drop in the EA ratings of their players
However, Silva added that he would try to improve his offensive capabilities.
“I think that offensively I can improve because I didn’t get a single goal last year. This year I think I can improve my attacking because defensively I’m good.” – said Silva towards the end of the interview.
EA Sports FC is the successor to the wildly popular FIFA video game series. EA FC 24 is the inaugural instalment in this new series following the conclusion of EA’s partnership with FIFA. They have started revealing the player ratings. PSG’s Kylian Mbappé holds the top spot with a rating of 91.
The Blues finished 12th last season. Out of 38 matches, the club won 11 matches, drew 11, and lost 16. This may have led to a drop in the EA ratings of the club’s players. According to the SUN, only 4 players – Thiago Silva, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, and Moises Caicedo have achieved a rating above 80.
However this season, the club had a rocky start under new manager Mauricio Pochettino. Out of 4 PL matches, we have registered 1 win, 2 losses and 1 draw. Many critics believed that Pochettino could fix our club’s poor performance. However, he still hasn’t shown promising results. Let’s hope he does a better job in the near future, and for that, we will need Silva’s expertise and talent.

We have a young squad at our disposal and the former AC Milan centre-back is one of the elder statesmen here. Perhaps EA will take note of his performances this season and if he performs as well as he has in recent years, he will get an upgrade that he seems eager for.
