Chelsea will finally have a sponsor in front of their shirt after receiving Premier League approval for Infinite Athlete to become the jersey sponsor for this season.
According to the Telegraph, (h/t Football.London) the Infinite Athlete deal is worth £40 million, but the final agreement is yet to be reached between the club and sponsor. With the Premier League now on board, hopefully, it is just a matter of time.
Chelsea are set to face Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup, but it’s unlikely they will have Infinite Sponsor printed on their jersey in time for the match. However, we are ever closer now to landing a new whale to replace Three whose deal expired earlier this year.
It is projected that the new sponsor could be printed on the club’s shirt in Chelsea’s next Premier League game which will be against Fulham on Monday night. Hopefully this progress off the field will also be backed up with a solid performance on the field. The Blues have only won one of their previous six Premier League games so far, and without an attractive sponsor, the supporters will at least have reason to be thrilled.
After ending their deal with Three, the Blues failed to strike a deal with a sponsor before the start of the new season. They were in talks with the likes of streaming platform Paramount and online betting company Stake, but an agreement was never reached. The league’s decision to forbid betting companies makes it good for the Blues to have never stuck with a betting company.
As the club raises additional finances to support the team off the field, the addition of a new sponsor will help pump in more cash. Given how much we have spent under the new owners, Chelsea need to back it up with success on the pitch. Having a valuable sponsor is always a good thing because it gives us additional financial stimulus.
Additionally, it improves the overall look of the shirt since our jersey appeared a little empty without a sponsor. Considering our disappointing start to the new season, let’s hope that this new sponsor will bring us some much needed luck.
