The agent of Chelsea star Moises Caicedo reveals reason for Liverpool snub
According to Sport Italia (h/t The Liverpool Echo), Andrea Pellegatti, the agent of Chelsea star Moises Caicedo has revealed why the player rejected a move to Liverpool in order to sign for the Stamford Bridge outfit earlier this summer.
The Ecuadorian star was one of the Premier League’s best midfielders and built himself a solid reputation at Brighton & Hove Albion. He played a key role in the club’s first ever finish in a European spot last season.
Chelsea have been long term admirers of the 21-year-old and have been scouting him for some time now. It appeared to be just a matter of time before he arrived in West London and lead Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea reset.
It thus came out of the Blue when Liverpool agreed a club record deal with Brighton, seemingly beating us to the punch. But the twists weren’t complete yet as the Blues came back with renewed vigour to win the race for Caicedo.
Pellegatti has now opened up on Caicedo’s thought process and has revealed that the player had eyes for no other but Chelsea. Given that the Blues were in talks with him for a long time, there would have bene little confusion that he was seen as a priority addition to the Stamford Bridge outfit.
“It was finalised in the last few hours, but the boy only wanted Chelsea, who had started to show their interest consistently since January.”
While it feels good to land a major target, it is sweeter when we consider a direct rival is left licking their wounds in the transfer race. Chelsea showed that even without European football, they remain a top destination for the best talents in world football.
Caicedo is yet to show his best in a Blue jersey but given what we have seen of him so far, he should get going once he familiarizes himself with the new surroundings and teammates.

Chelsea have nobody but themselves to thank given the long diligence involved in convincing the player to move to Stamford Bridge. While Liverpool might have been ready to fork out the cash, our vision certainly won out in the end. The hope now is for Caicedo to prove his worth and justify our outlay for his services.
