“Worry for them”- Merson paints worrying picture as Chelsea ready themselves for key run of games

Paul Merson outlines the importance of Chelsea FC’s next ten games

Paul Merson feels Chelsea FC’s next 10 games will be important, and he doubts they will win many of them after a poor start to the new Premier League season. Chelsea, who currently sit 14th in the league standings, will play Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Next Argentine boss will face a collection of tricky teams such as Fulham and Burnley, followed by the heavyweights of the Premier League: Arsenal, Brentford, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and Manchester United.

The Blues are battling to win games, so it’s extremely unlikely that they will come away with many points on current form. If the Blues don’t win any games, we could find ourselves in a tricky position.

This has worried Merson, who doesn’t know if they will be able to pull off a win in their next 10 matches. (h/t Metro), Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:

‘’If you look at Chelsea’s fixtures, you worry for them. The next 10 games are so vital for their season that you can’t catch your breath. It’s a run where you actually don’t know when they’re going to win a football match.”

While it appears to be a sensational claim, the Blues haven’t done themselves any favours with their poor run of results. Hopefully things can only go up from here as we seek to salvage what we can of the campaign.

These ten opponents are all very capable teams that will punish the Blues if they don’t take advantage of opportunities, so it’s now very unpredictable to see if Chelsea can actually scoop out a victory in any of those ten games.

Manchester United and Newcastle have had an unstable start to the season while Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Brighton have continued to play at their highest levels. We can probably squeeze a victory over Fulham and Burnley which will give us optimism heading into the next game. We remain the only team to take points off Liverpool this season so there might yet be hope.

Paul Merson’s predictions could come true due to our dire situation and our issues with scoring goals. Hopefully, the arrival of Armando Broja will make the difference which Nicolas Jackson has failed to do otherwise, this season will also go down the drain.
