Paul Merson feels Enzo Fernandez might consider leaving Chelsea if they don’t return to winning ways
Paul Merson has warned Chelsea that they could lose their star player, Enzo Fernandez if the club doesn’t find a solution to win games once the international break is over.
He feels the Argentine might start mulling leaving the club if their losing streak continues. The Blues have registered only one win in their last four Premier League games and have also lost twice. The pressure is starting to build on Mauricio Pochettino, as Chelsea’s fans have never been in a position to have patience with the club’s rebuild.
The club went through a squad revamp in the summer window in order to trim down their bloated squad. This saw many regular starters leave Chelsea, sacrificing a wealth of experience for Pochettino to work with. But the Blues have also bought their alternatives in the hope of building a competitive side under Pochettino.
But their results so far have been unconvincing, and the former Arsenal player has warned the club they will be in serious trouble if it continues, (h/t Express) as he told Sky Sports:
“Mauricio Pochettino will get it right because he’s a good manager, but it’s going to be hard. If they get in the top four then they will be pulling up trees. They’ve bought too many players that are the same. Enzo Fernandez is a cut above the rest. But how long will he stand for this?”
Given that Chelsea supporters have never experienced an occasion when they had to patiently wait for the club to undergo redevelopment, expecting a manager to provide immediate results isn’t something new. But it is also true that we need to match the ambitions of our players and hold true to the vision presented to them.
Because the majority of them are new recruits, we also need the team to work well together and once there is communication and understanding between the players and our strikers start scoring goals then we can expect Chelsea to take a good step into becoming a competitive side.

Regarding Fernandez, he is wholly committed to the team and now has a quality player by his side to push him further up the pitch so he can perform to the best of his ability. Once the entire midfield group gels, we will have a strong team. It’s just a matter of time before we start delivering on the pitch.
