Mauricio Pochettino outline huge difference between working at Tottenham Hotspur and at Chelsea
Mauricio Pochettino has opened up about the difference between working with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea. He has claimed that while at Spurs he helped transform the club whereas at Stamford Bridge, the plan was already laid out.
The former Paris Saint-Germain manager played a key role in turning Spurs into a top-four contender in the Premier League and steering them to the 2019 Champions League final. However, despite all the promise, he ended his stint in North London without a trophy.
Pochettino’s reputation climbed and his attacking style of football became well-known at Spurs despite the fact that he failed to win any trophies. Hopefully, his philosophy at Chelsea will begin to work soon, but with silverware also in the offing.
The same manager has been entrusted with attempting to assist Chelsea in becoming a formidable squad with an infusion of youthful players. Now the Argentine manager has explained working with Tottenham and Chelsea; speaking to the media, (h/t Evening Standard), he said:
“It was different because [at Spurs] the transformation was with us: we found the squad [while working with] the club, and we were working for six months to a year to change and design the strategy [moving forward].”
“[At Chelsea], the plan was already made. We arrived here to develop this project; it had already started [before I was appointed], and now I am part of the plan. I’m responsible here, like I was at Tottenham, but it was a little bit different.”
Each club has their own priorities and what worked for Tottenham might not have the same impact at Chelsea. Hopefully, Pochettino managed to discover the right foot forward as he seeks to turn us once again into challengers.
In order to make Spurs a competitive team, the club should retain faith in their manager and back him to the hilt. It undoubtedly took him years to turn Spurs into challengers. We hope it will not take that long for us to see him lift a trophy with the Blues.

At Chelsea, we haven’t often seen a manager stay for years if he doesn’t deliver a trophy in time. The fact that we carefully considered Pochettino before hiring him explains why we felt comfortable giving him the project. He needs the support of the fans, and as soon as the team gels and everyone is fit, we will start seeing success.
