Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is optimistic that Chelsea and Manchester United will soon hit their rhythm after both clubs made unconvincing starts to the 2023-24 season.
United have struggled to win games after their recent 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, while the West Londoners continue to strive to score goals after a 0-0 draw against Bournemouth. This leaves them both mid-table with ground to cover as the season takes shape.
Erik ten Hag’s side have now suffered three losses in five Premier League games, and the Blues have one win. Both clubs seem to have the same struggles in winning games.
The Blues are currently making headway under Pochettino, and the manager is also lacking players from the preseason, which has led him to change his formation in the Premier League. Injuries combined with a lack of consistency have largely hampered both clubs.
But the Manchester City boss feels these struggles are just temporary, and as the season goes on, both clubs will pick up their rhythm. He believes it to be just a matter of time for that to happen. When asked about United’s start (h/t Metro)this is what Guardiola had to say.
‘Well, they didn’t start like I thought they expected, like Chelsea, but always Man United, Chelsea, sooner or later, they take the rhythm.”
Pep knows that United and Chelsea havequality squads, and they will certainly hit their winning momentum at some point. Even though the City manager took years to turn this team into an elite squad, and he was backed for this by fans and owners, why can’t our fans do that?
We have an exciting squad, but injuries have hampered our season. Our top players are injured, which has forced the Argentine manager to use players in different positions. For Ten Hag, it was expected to be different, as last season they finished the campaign on a positive note with a top-four finish and the Carabao Cup.
It was thought they would commence the new season the same way, which hasn’t been the case. They also have plenty of injured players, and once both clubs’ injured players return, they will have a competitive squad.
