Injury Update: Chelsea trio still a month away from returning to action

Injury Update on the Chelsea trio of Romeo Lavia, Reece James and Carney Chukwuemeka

As per Evening Standard, Chelsea fans will have to wait another month to see Romeo Lavia in action, while Reece James and Carney Chukwuemeka have participated in solo training as they recover from injury.

Both James and Chukwuemeka will soon be reintroduced to Pochettino’s group training, and it is anticipated that their return to action will come soon. This will give the Chelsea boss a massive shot in the arm as the season takes shape.

Lavia, who joined the Blues in the summer window, hasn’t made his debut as he was unfit to start any games. But during training, the former Southampton midfielder picked up an ankle injury and won’t be back in contention before the October international break.

Meanwhile, James sustained a hamstring injury in Chelsea’s opening game against Liverpool. Chukwuemeka suffered an injury against West Ham United, where he also scored his first Chelsea goal, but the Blues lost 3-1.

His return will give Mauricio Pochettino a welcome boost, as Chukwuemeka was terrific and started every game before his injury. For James however, the Blues should take precautions and reduce his game time to avoid picking up more injuries.

The Blues will return to action on September 24 against Aston Villa, but before that, other players such as Armando Broja and Moises Caicedo could also return. Hopefully, things only get better from here.

The manager will get a boost from James and Chukwuemeka’s return since it gives him a few more options. The 19-year-old has made strides under Pochettino and would have performed even better had he not sustained an injury. He got along easily with Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.

More Chelsea News:

James, we will have to be careful because he seems to be becoming injury-prone, and so we need to manage his playing time this season with Malo Gusto doing well in his position. Last season, he barely played, so we cannot let that happen again this campaign.
