Chelsea boss reveals why he was disappointed with Cole Palmer in Preston win

Ian Wright claims that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino will find life difficult if he fails to win the next two games

Ian Wright has sent a warning to Mauricio Pochettino and claimed he must win the next two games in order to save his Chelsea job. This after the Blues’ dismal start to the new campaign that saw them win one of their opening six Premier League games.

The arrival of the Argentine manager was greeted with a lot of optimism, and during pre-season, it appeared he had the right man for the job. However, our poor start to the campaign has now raised questions.

Injuries have also been the main issues that disrupted Pochettino’s plan for the current season. The Blues already are miles behind the teams in the race for the top four and there is much gap to be bridged.

Chelsea next face Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup before returning to league action against Fulham and Burnley. Should we face more disappointment, Pochettino could really find himself under the scanner.

Arsenal legend, Wright feels Pochettino must steer them to wins against Fulham and Burnley before they face Arsenal, Brentford, Tottenham, and Manchester City. (h/t Metro) Speaking during the Kelly and Wright Show, he said:

‘’You look at those [next 10 fixtures]—a derby against Fulham and then Burnley—those are must-win games. You would worry for them if they lost the next two. You look at Chelsea, and you think something is going to have to give soon. I think it’s the next two games. If they don’t do it, you have to start worrying for Pochettino.”

Ian Wright’s remarks make sense because. Following the Burnley game, we will play big matches, and winning against Fulham and Burnley will help the players feel more confident before facing the likes of City and Arsenal. However, It would be stupid to fire Pochettino even if they went on to lose more games since losing is a part of life and the quest is a long-term one.

Why can’t we build a project the way other teams, like Liverpool and Manchester City, gave their managers years to do so? We obviously need to win games, but in order to do that, we need an organised squad. It will take time for the young team to mature; firing the manager won’t improve the situation; it will actually make it harder.
