“Not all roses”- Gary Cahill calls on Chelsea stars to turn around the club’s fortunes

Gary Cahill reveals Chelsea need core player to turn their fortunes around

Gary Cahill has called upon the core players at Chelsea to turn the fortunes of the club around following the poor start to the season. However, he has also asked fans for patience regarding favourable results.

Despite Chelsea’s significant improvement in performance, there has been a lack of goals scored in the matches, which has been a key reason for the defeats in close fought matches. The West Londoners have one win to their name in four Premier League games under Mauricio Pochettino and are presently languishing 12th in the Premier League table.

The Blues will next encounter Bournemouth on September 17, and fans will be predicting the result will be in their favour this time. However, former centre-back Cahill detailed how Chelsea can improve when speaking to Hayters, (h/t Daily Mail) saying:

‘’When you’re in transition and the team’s evolving and changing, when we were successful here, we had the core of the team, and then we added one or two players to that, and that made it a lot easier to adapt those players into the system and the football club.”

‘When you have so many changes, it does take time. The ability is there, first and foremost, but it takes time to learn this league and get experience. You get experience, good and bad; football’s not all roses.”

The former English international is well aware that the club is in transition and time is of the essence as Mauricio Pochettino aims to rebuild the squad. Cahill knows that football is a game of ups and downs and with due course, we too can turn things around.

It is evident that the roster should consist of several seasoned players, with quite a few young starlets thrown into the mix. Chelsea have adopted a different strategy under Todd Boehly because it aims to construct a team around young players. Since the club’s majority of players are young, it will undoubtedly take some time for this team to develop into an exceptional one.

Given that this is football and that the process of assembling a team takes a long time, Cahill’s comments make perfect sense. Pochettino would want players who could easily integrate into his system as he seeks to make Chelsea a great team. Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp both took their time to build winning sides and it is imperative we let Pochettino do the same.
