Chelsea star Ben Chilwell has advised fans to show patience
Chelsea star Ben Chilwell has urged the fans to remain patient with the Blues despite their poor recent form after they picked up only one win in their last four games.
They are currently languishing in 12th place with just four points in four games. Despite Chelsea being a more threatening side in the games, they have, as usual, remained toothless in front of the goal. This was also the cause of concern last season, and it seems like it will continue unless Chelsea’s centre-forwards start scoring goals. New signing Nicolas Jackson has only registered one goal so far and will need to up his game considerably.
Since the takeover of Todd Boehly, the West Londoners have spent £1 billion on new signings, and the majority of them have been youngsters, as he aims to build a squad around them. However, they are still developing their talent and will take some time to discover their true potential.
Their performance on the pitch has frustrated fans after the players were booed in their 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, (h/t Football.London) but Chilwell has asked them to have patience and said:
“Patience. I understand that fans expect and want us to win week in and week out; it is what they are used to and have always had. It is completely understandable.”
“What the manager has come in and done is brilliant. We have all bought into what he is trying to do at the club. With such a young, exciting squad. I think it will be a good future. With a bit more patience, we will come good.”
Because the majority of our team is young and needs time to turn things around, Chilwell’s remark makes sense in this context. We need to be more patient with our rebuilding stage. Since the majority of them lack Premier competition expertise, it takes time for them to become familiar with the new competition.
In order for young players to develop, Mauricio Pochettino should also start providing them with more chances and it’s acceptable if they make mistakes. Sooner or later, it will help weed out those who won’t make the cut and retain those whom we can build a team around.

Managerial uncertainty has always been on the cards at Chelsea since the Roman Abramovich era. But Boehly wants to follow his own set of rules. Even Manchester City and Liverpool under Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp took time to become competitive sides, and fans were by their sides, so why not us?
