Chelsea handed positive Reece James injury update

Chelsea skipper closing in on return to full training after hamstring injury in August

Chelsea ace defender Reece James is closing in on resuming full training following a hamstring injury in August, in a major boost for manager Mauricio Pochettino.

James has been sidelined since suffering the injury in a training session, working individually at Chelsea’s Cobham training base during his rehab. But the Blues captain is nearly ready to rejoin team sessions.

According to the Daily Mail, the 23-year-old could return immediately after the international break In Chelsea’s clash against Arsenal on October 21st.

Chelsea skipper Reece James will be starting full training soon.

Getting his ace back would provide timely relief for Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea battle mounting injury issues at both fullback spots. With Ben Chilwell also just picking up a hamstring problem in the recent win against Brighton, James’ return is vital.

The 23-year-old Reece James has only made one appearance this term in Chelsea’s season opener against Liverpool. His absence has certainly compounded the Blues’ poor start under Pochettino.

James’ recovery is progressing well after working tirelessly alone in training. The club will certainly carefully manage his return to full sessions to avoid any setbacks.

James is close to full training but still faces potential FA ban

However, the Blues also await potential disciplinary action against James from the FA after he allegedly confronted officials in a ‘tunnel rage‘ event following last week’s 0-1 loss to Aston Villa.

If this charge is proven the English international will be facing consequences for losing discipline despite not featuring in the loss.

Chelsea have been performing very poorly since the start of the season. The fact that the team is currently missing many first-team stars like Christopher Nkunku, Noni Madueke, and Benoît Badiashile among others has certainly contributed to this problem.

However, Chelsea finally managed to secure some good news in the recent League Cup win against Brighton. And the news of their skipper’s potential return following this win is certainly comforting for the fans. Getting their captain back in the fold would also provide a psychological lift to Chelsea’s struggling squad.

While taking a cautious approach, Chelsea hope to have James back in match action after the international break. His return is important because we need to have our elected captain on the pitch and guiding his teammates. That, and the immense quality he provides on the right flank.
