Arsenal ready to step up their efforts to land Chelsea target in January

Arsenal are ready to step up interest in landing Chelsea target Ivan Toney

According to the Mirror, Chelsea are set to face growing competition from clubs for Ivan Toney as Arsenal are now ready to step up their interest in the player in the upcoming January transfer window.

Mikel Arteta is looking to add more ammunition on the attacking line, and Toney has been seen as an ideal candidate, with Brentford open to selling the striker for £60 million. Landing him will give the Gunners depth to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Toney has now returned to training following a ban by the Premier League for breaching betting rules, and the 27-year-old will return to action in January. However, it is doubtful if he will be playing for Brentford in January, as Chelsea and Arsenal have the man in their sights.

Now the Bees will only release their hitman if any of them meet their demands.Arteta wants to bring an established goal scorer who is physically strong and can Toney who scored 20 goals last season is the ideal man for him.

The same goes for the West Londoners, who have remained subpar in front of goal and Nicolas Jackson’s acquisition hasn’t helped. Now Toney looks like an ideal signing who can make an impact but they will have to rival the Gunners for his acquisition.

The North Londoners could have a key advantage in convincing the striker to join them, as they can offer him Champions League football. Toney had earlier said in an interview that he would like to join either Liverpool or Arsenal.

Ivan Toney will be difficult to get for Chelsea, with Arsenal appearing to be in the driver’s seat. Toney is exactly the sort of striker we should have, and he seems to be the kind of centre-forward who can help us with our goal-scoring ailments.

For a striker of his calibre, £60 million is a respectable asking price, and both clubs may engage in a bidding battle. It remains to be seen how things turn out. By the winter window, interest might be increasing, but we already hijacked the Gunners in the last winter window, so we could use these tactics again.
