American firm in talks to help out Todd Boehly at Chelsea

Fabrizio Romano reveals Chelsea owners held a meeting at Cobham to make plans for the last day of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea open to injecting further funds into the club after loss in first season

USA firm Ares is in talks with Chelsea over a potential brokering deal, and Todd Boehly is open to injecting some profit into the club for next season.

According to the Telegraph, (h/t Daily Mail), Ares has turned into a big investor in sports and has had a $3.7 billion (£3.2 billion) war chest to splurge in the game so far.

The firm also offered Manchester United a deal and is now aiming to expand its business after making a proposal to Chelsea, who would be in need of funds after a significant outlay in recent windows.

Currently, they are in advanced discussions with the club to infuse some money, and Todd Boehly, the owner of Chelsea, is amenable to the idea as he attempts to pump more money into summer acquisitions.

Ares was one of several US-based groups that presented investments to United just a few months ago, while the Glazer family was considering a sale. If the deal goes through, then the funds will be invested in a stadium project and a multi-club expansion, the same outlet adds.

Ares recorded a growth of $1.5 billion (£1.1 billion) last year but has now progressed exponentially and now holds strong spending power, which will be enough to convince Chelsea to accept the offer.

Boehly should consider taking it because it appears like an excellent way to make deals and is not illegal, which won’t get us into trouble and support us financially for more seasons. It is one of the ways clubs can seek help to keep up with the financially-demanding world of football.

But we have to plan for the future in ways where we can sustain ourselves without a need for such external funding. We have invested so much in so many young players and it could prove to be smart in the long run.

If they don’t fulfil their potential, we can still sell them considering they will be in a desirable age bracket. Moreover, Chelsea have to make sure they don’t miss out on the UEFA Champions League spots for another season. It could be damaging to our finances.
