London rivals mulling loan move for wantaway Chelsea star

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a loan move for Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku

Tottenham Hotspur are contemplating a move for out-of-favour Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, but only on a loan basis because they might don’t want to risk going big for him after the inconsistent spell at Stamford Bridge.

According to Tutto Mercato, (h/t Daily Mail), Spurs are keen on signing Lukaku, but only on loan, as Daniel Levy isn’t keen on a permanent switch. Lukaku’s career at Chelsea never quite worked out after his record-breaking return to Stamford Bridge for £97.5 million from Inter Milan. The Striker never seemed destined to make a mark at the club despite two spells in Blue.

Within a year, the Belgian striker urged the club to send him back to Inter. The 30-year-old spent last season on loan at the Giuseppe Meazza and struggled with injuries. He has since returned to Stamford Bridge and is now facing an uncertain future.

Since he has been wanting to leave the club. However, with Inter not in the race anymore, Juventus emerged as the top contender to sign him, but the move has failed to progress so far.

Since returning to Chelsea, Lukaku has been training alone with the club, making it clear that he isn’t part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plan. However, the Belgian can still feature in the Premier League with Tottenham emerging as new suitors, but they want him on loan, which Chelsea would be reluctant to send as they don’t want to deal with him anymore and get rid of him for good.

Chelsea striker, Romelu Lukaku currently training alone at Chelsea.

Currently, we don’t seem to have any other option than sending him on loan. He has also been adamant about not going to Saudi Arabia scuppering any planes we might have had to flip him for an elevated fee. If we don’t find him a club, then we will have to keep him until the next transfer window, which the club doesn’t want as he can bring a negative vibe to the dressing room and might affect Pochettino’s plan. So we will have to decide whether to send him on loan or keep him.

However, Chelsea have earlier made their stance clear as they don’t want to send him on loan once again but now might have to reconsider their decision if they don’t want him at the club this season.

Keeping him would be pointless, so it would be better to loan him for a season-long spell, and then we hope to find a club where he can be sent permanently. If his performance is convincing, then the Spurs might keep him forever.
