Southampton’s sale of Tino Livramento to Newcastle United will see Chelsea pocket £15m
As per an X from Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, Chelsea will earn a profit close to £15m after Southampton agreed to sell Tino Livramento for a package of £40m.
Back in August 2021, Southampton signed Livramento from Chelsea for a fee in the region of £5m. The Blues included a sell-on clause on any profit the Saints would make by his sale.
Considering that the player is a Cobham product, Chelsea earning close to £20m from the two transfers made (£5m from the initial sale to Southampton and £15m profit after the latest transaction between the Saints and Newcastle) is exceptional financial business.
Livramento is a flexible fullback who can play either side and is capable of operating as a wing-back. He is comfortable going forward and creating chances in the final third while having the pace to recover those runs.
All in all, the 20-year-old would be a good addition to the Newcastle squad as they aim to bolster the depth due to the increased number of games in the coming season for participating in the Champions League.
Chelsea have done well at raising capital through player sales this summer. This Livramento can be included in that list. Now, it is time to spend some of that to bolster the midfield department.
They are set to sign Robert Sanchez to add competition to the goalkeeper position. The struggle to crack a deal for Moises Caicedo continues though.
Mauricio Pochettino does not have many senior midfield options going into next season. Getting Caicedo would not only add to the number but also the quality in abundance.
