Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in signing Michael Olise whose release clause is confirmed
As per an X from Fabrizio Romano, the release clause of £35m is confirmed for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise who is a subject of interest for Chelsea and Manchester City.
A few days ago, Romano revealed the interest from the clubs in the Frenchman with the release clause, which is now confirmed. They are waiting on more clarity on the player’s situation because he picked up an injury while playing in the U21 Euros.
Palace manager Roy Hodgson expects Olise to miss the early half of the coming season. So, even if either Chelsea or City sign him, he won’t be straightaway available to be a part of the playing squad.
We know that City are looking to replace Riyad Mahrez with a winger in this window. The Algerian international left Pep Guardiola’s team to sign for Saudi Arabia side Al-Ahli and it is imperative for the champions that they bring in a reliable replacement.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have been looking to sign a left-footed winger. Along with Olise, the Blues have registered a concrete interest in Ajax Amsterdam’s versatile attacker Mohammed Kudus should an agreement for Moises Caicedo fall through.
As of now, Mauricio Pochettino only has one left-footed forward in the squad – Noni Madueke. Hakim Ziyech is there, but it won’t be a surprise if he leaves before the end of this window.
Hence, it makes sense why the Blues are looking to sign either Olise or Kudus. The former is a technically strong winger who is good at creating chances, taking defenders on and delivering crosses or set-piece with great accuracy. At 21, his best years are yet to come as well.

The Frenchman may not be as quick as Kudus, but his feet do most of the talking on the ball. At the release clause price mentioned above, the 21-year-old would be a good addition to the squad.
