24-year-old World Cup hero ready to make short-term Chelsea switch

PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe is prepared to make a summer move to Chelsea

Kylian Mbappe has said yes to a move to Chelsea this summer transfer window, but only for a year after the France international decided to not extend his contract beyond 2024 with French giants PSG.

According to Sport, (h/t Football.London) Mbappe wants to join Chelsea for a year and later move to Real Madrid for the 2024–25 season. But this doesn’t suit Chelsea’s approach to signing players, as they want to bind him to a long-term contract.

The Blues are in negotiations with PSG over the French ace and a player-plus-cash offer has been made to bring the 2018 World Cup winner to Stamford Bridge. While he might not stay a Blue for long, the ability to attract a star of his pedigree would be a coup for the Blues, especially since they failed to qualify for Europe.

It is also understood that the Ligue 1 club has approached the West Londoners to maternalize the deal, and owner Todd Boehly held direct talks with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi over a move. If Chelsea reaches an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain, then signing Mbappe will be a matter of personal terms, and it appears he will make a move considering he is motivated to join the club.

This will see him test himself out in the Premier League, and it will also be a statement signing for Chelsea as they will land one of the best players in the sport today. As long as he can fire us back to a top-four spot and a trophy or two, we wouldn’t begrudge him a short stint at Stamford Bridge.

Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has told yes to joining Chelsea for a season only.

If we do decide to sign him for a season, we will undoubtedly have a player of the highest calibre who will score goals left and right and may even help us challenge for the Premier League. Through the sale of shirts and marketing, the club will gain enormous profits as a result of landing Mbappe.

While the prospect of landing Mbappe is a dream, having him for just one year is a killjoy. As long as the finances make sense, it is in Chelsea’s best interests to see the deal through. After all, we could gain much by securing Mbappe and could consider his temporary stay akin to a one-season loan. As long as he performs on the field, it should matter little if he is with us for a year or ten.
