Chelsea winger Mykhaylo Mudryk becomes the latest player in the team to pick up an injury
As per the Guardian, Chelsea winger Mykhaylo Mudryk joins a long list of players who are currently nursing an injury and are unavailable to Mauricio Pochettino.
The club are yet to reveal the extent of the Ukrainian’s injury, but Pochettino feels he will be back in the next few days. So, there might be a chance that he misses the league game against Luton Town on Friday and the Carabao Cup tie against Wimbledon in the following midweek.
The list of injured players at Chelsea is ever-growing at the moment. It started with Christopher Nkunku picking up a knee injury during a pre-season game against Borussia Dortmund. The Frenchman is expected to be out until December.
New captain Reece James, who played well in the opening game of the season against Liverpool, has once again pulled his hamstring and could be out for a few games.
Carney Chukwuemeka had a knee surgery done this week after going off injured against West Ham United on Sunday. Amidst all that, we cannot forget the ACL injury Wesley Fofana picked up in the early part of the pre-season. It won’t be a surprise if we don’t see the Frenchman play any part this season.
These are not just squad players we are talking about here. If all the players mentioned above were fit, Pochettino would have had a squad worthy of pushing for a top-four finish.
But, now we are in a situation where that squad looks half-baked despite valuable additions and subtractions to it in the transfer window. The midfield looks sorted with Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher and Romeo Lavia.

Coming back to Mudryk, it is a shame that he picks up an injury against a potentially straightforward game against Luton. He has been underwhelming since arriving at the club in January from Shakhtar Donetsk. An upturn in form is needed pretty soon to keep the trust alive among the fans and faithful.
