Chelsea have reached personal agreement to sign Michael Olise amid Manchester City’s interest
Michael Olise has agreed personal terms to join Chelsea over Manchester City, giving the West Londoners headway to complete his signing as soon as possible.
According to RMC Sports, (h/t Express), the Blues are closing in on the signing of the 21-year-old and have apparently made a verbal offer of £26 million for the U21 England international, whose release clause is around £35 million.
The Blues are hoping to get the signing done as soon as possible, with the Premier League opener against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge now less than a week away.
It is also understood that the West Londoner’s opening bid is expected to be rebuffed by Palace as they want his release clause to be paid in full. A second offer is also anticipated to be made once the first proposal is turned down.
Meanwhile, City are looking to replace Riyad Mahrez and have earmarked Olise to be his ideal replacement. The Premier League’s reigning champions recently signed Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol, which now means they can focus their attention fully on other targets.
This time, the Blues don’t want to take any risks as they ramp up his deal swiftly. Chelsea’s boss, Mauricio Pochettino, is a fan of the Hammersmith-born star and will be keen to have him in his squad.
Olise is an exciting player, whose dribbling ability and close control is brilliant to have in the final third. He is also good on set-pieces and has all the makings to be an excellent playmaker down the flanks and even in the No. 10 role.
Since we only have Noni Madueke on the right flank and he is too young to participate in every game, Olise’s choice to play for us makes sense. He can even get a good amount of playing time here after Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic’s exits.

Olise excelled last season with the Eagles and played in Chelsea’s youth team during his formative years, so he undoubtedly has enough knowledge of the club’s structure. Given that he has already agreed on personal terms, all we need to do now is agree on a price with Palace, and we’ll have a top-notch winger leading the charge.
