“For me, it’s important’- Pochettino looking for the right tools as he plots Chelsea resurgence

Mauricio Pochettino urges the Chelsea hierarchy to reinforce the squad

Mauricio Pochettino has claimed he needs Chelsea to be upgraded in all areas, hinting at a transfer message to the club’s hierarchy to make more signings in the ongoing 2023 summer transfer window.

Chelsea have remained active in the summer window as they started by trimming down their bloated squad by offloading plenty of players such as Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz, and Christian Pulisic among others.

Despite shedding an array of players, the Blues plan to focus on upgrading their roster since a defensive midfielder and an experienced striker are still crucial additions. Unless we manage to bring in the right players, the drop-off in quality should show.

Following the injury to Wesley Fofana, who fears missing out on an entire season, the Blues have found their backup as they are nearing the acquisition of Axel Disasi after reaching personal terms with AS Monaco. While ti is a good start, we still need much more than just the Frenchman.

Pochettino has also confirmed the club needs to be improved in all areas before they start the new season against Liverpool on August 13th, (h/t Mirror), as he said:

‘For me, it’s important; the club is working really hard to try and improve all of the areas. Yes, of course, maybe we can add some different profiles or different players who can help us; of course we are open.”

Pochettino has emphasised the necessity for the team to still make some improvements. We have a lot of young players now; therefore, the Blues should look for a more proven player with a knack for leadership. Our top priority is still finding a defensive midfielder, and with only two weeks until the start of the season, we should move quickly to sign Moises Caicedo.

Now that we have a replacement for Fofana and Nicolas Jackson has proven he can be the ideal striker to solve our goalscoring woes, the only position we still need to strengthen is midfield, and we hope Chelsea takes steps quickly on this.
