“He is not going to play”- Mauricio Pochettino sends stern message to Chelsea players

Mauricio Pochettino has told Chelsea players to commit to the cause if they want to play every game

Mauricio Pochettino has already sent his ultimatum to Chelsea players to show commitment and fight for their place if they want to be included in every game this season.

The West Londoners spending under Todd Boehly has now reached £1 billion, which has seen the club give players deals of up to eight years to avoid breaking the Financial Fair Play rule.

20 senior players have already inked deals that run till 2028 that shows the club’s trust in their signings and the project they are building. But Poch has sent a clear message to those who aren’t on board with the club’s vision.

Chelsea have offloaded plenty of players this season to reduce their overcrowded squad. Pochettino expects players to show commitment, especially those who have signed long-term contracts. (h/t Daily Mail), Speaking to the media, he said:

”Talented players, players that the club spends money on, have to show every day that they deserve to play. My job is to be fair with everyone in the squad. Sign a player on an eight-year contract, and if he is not involved, there is no commitment; he is not going to play.”

This is a direct message to the players because we have witnessed such players at the club who weren’t content and were forced to move out. The presence of such elements in the team ruins the vibe and positive attitude of the other players which we don’t want this season.

Chelsea should look to sign players who are committed to giving their all on the pitch, and perhaps Pochettino could have an influence on them. It is a bit worrying too if the Argentine manager was referring to someone in the squad with his comments, but hopefully that isn’t the case.

No player is bigger than the manager and the club. We saw with the exits of Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz that the club are committed to forming a team where both parties are fully in sync with each other and completely on board with the project. Good times ahead.
